TACOMA, Washington, August 8, 2007 – Spectrum today announced that Brendan O'Farrell, former Howard Johnson & Company Executive and retired HCM International CEO, has joined Spectrum as a Director and Consulting Actuary.

Brendan O'Farrell
Brendan joined Howard Johnson & Company in 1970, after serving in the United States Army. Over the ensuing 28 years, Howard Johnson & Company became recognized as one of the premier consulting organizations in our field. In 1998, Merrill Lynch acquired the firm, with the international and human resources practices being spun off to HCM International.
Over a 35-year career, Brendan has advised a number of the world’s best-known global companies in many aspects of human resources management. A frequent speaker at industry human resource conferences, he has authored or co-authored more than 200 articles, peer-reviewed papers and texts on various HR, pension and business management topics.
Brendan's work with client organizations has focused on HR business strategy, organization design, organizational capability, reward management, and people management technologies. His work in the field of 'Human Capital Performance Metrics' has been widely recognized and his workbook of the same title has been used by many organizations in creating key measures of management and employee performance.
Throughout Brendan's career he has been involved with employee retirement programs. He is a Fellow and Past President of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, and an Associate of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland. He is also member, past president and Chair of the Western Pension & Benefits Conference.
Brendan served as Chair of the US Federal Government's Advisory Committee for Enrolled Actuaries (1976-1979); a member of the Education Policy Committee of the Society of Actuaries (1982-1987 and 1991), a consultant to the Joint Committee on Taxation, United States Senate and House of Representatives (1982-1984), and Consultant to the President's Commission on Pension Policy (1979-1981).
