Yannis P. Koumantaros is a Principal, a Director, and the Chief Marketing Officer of Spectrum Pension Consultants, Inc.  He has served on the Company's board since 2003.

Yannis joined Spectrum in 2002 as a Consultant.  He assumed all Controller duties shortly thereafter, and became CFO in February 2003.  In May 2005 he was promoted to Senior Consultant.  Yannis expanded his role to Chief Pension Consultant and Chief Financial Officer in December 2005, but took on his current Chief Marketing Officer role in April 2008.

Responsible for the firm’s Business Development, Yannis is an avid retirement plan marketplace expert.  He was a contributing author in SmartMoney Magazine’s “10 Things Your 401(k) Provider Won't Tell You,” has been featured on FundAdvice.com’s Seattle Based Radio Show as a Pension Consultant Expert, and was asked to serve on the Charles Schwab Trust Company Advisory Board for the 2007-2008 Term. 

He is a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA) and holds the Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) and Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) designations.  Yannis volunteers on the ASPPA Membership Committee and serves as 2008-2010 Co-Chairman of the Next Generation Subcommittee. He is Chairman of the Board on the ASPPA Political Action Committee, on the Board of Directors of the ASPPA Benefits Counsel of the Great Northwest, and holds memberships with the National Institute of Pension Administrators (NIPA), Society of Professional Administrators and Record-Keepers (SPARK), and the National Association of Actuaries and Consultants, Inc. (NAACI).

Selected by his peers to speak at the 2007 ASPPA National Conference on the Topics of Investment Advice to Participants, and Full Disclosure Fee Transparency within the Retirement Plan Marketplace.  At the 2008 ASPPA National Conference, Yannis was selected to speak on Retirement Income Adequacy, and at the 2009 he co-presented on topics related to Social and Professional Media for Marketing and Business Development.

Yannis graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Marketing.  He was selected to perform academic research for the Finance department at the University on the correlation of “How Credit Ratings Affect the Intrinsic Value of a Corporation.”  Portions of his research were published in 3 different financial journals, and even today he continues to work with the University of Washington's Finance Department on matters of interest to the future of Retirement Plans.
